Answer: No. A brain abscess can develop due to infections.
Key difference:
With appropriate diagnosis and treatment, brain abscesses may often have a more favorable course than tumors. However, in patients with weakened immune systems, treatment can take longer.
What to do if infection is suspected:
- Seek emergency care if there is fever + headache + altered consciousness and/or neurological signs.
- Inform the physician about recent ear/sinus infection, dental infection, or immunosuppression.
