Brain Decompression Surgery

This is an operation in which part of the skull bone is removed to create space for the swollen brain. In this way, it may be possible to save the patient’s life and improve quality of life after recovery — especially if not delayed.

Question: When is decompressive (pressure-relieving) surgery considered?

Answer: If intracranial pressure cannot be controlled despite medications and intensive care measures, decompressive surgery may be considered in selected patients. The decision is made by the clinical team based on imaging findings, neurological examination, and overall condition.
