Malignant Brain Tumors
Question: What does a malignant brain tumor (gliomas etc.) mean?
Answer: Malignant brain tumors are tumors that may not be completely removed with surgery and tend to regrow over time. The most common examples are gliomas.
Goals of treatment:
• Reduce pressure on the brain
• Clarify the diagnosis
• Provide time and improve quality of life
• Increase the effectiveness of radiation and drug therapies
“In high-grade gliomas, multi-modality treatment approaches can meaningfully prolong survival and functional status.”
